Foster that natural curiosity in your little one by venturing outdoors to ‘spy’ what’s happening at Gibson Woods Nature Preserve. Each session will include a story, craft, snack and plenty of outdoor exploration. For Ages 3-5 with caregiver. Pre-registration required; please call 219-844-3188.

April is National Frog Month so what better time to learn about frogs and their amazing amphibian kin? We learn some of their cool adaptations, crazy calls and the places they call home.
Tuesday, June 11 from 1-2 pm
Shadows are all around us how do they keep us cool? Can they be used to tell time? Explore the science behind all this and you’ll be ‘made in the shade’.

Discover the natural wonders of the Lake County Parks during a monthly play date. We will meet at a different park each month to see what nature has in store to explore. Ages 2-6 with caregiver. Play dates are from 10-11 AM every 3rd Friday of each month.

Mix Up nature’s ingredients like wind, water and temperature and they become something spectacular and powerful. Learn to use some basic weather tools, record weather data and even make a tool to take home.

Join us as we take an adventure into the amazing world of wetlands. Please wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty.
Kids Insect Institute
Fridays, June 14 and 28, July 12 and 26, and August 2
Summer is synonymous with trails, buzzing bees and fluttering butterflies. What about some of the other cool but lesser known insects? Join us from 10-11:15 AM to investigate the lives of the fireflies, beetles, dragonflies and other amazing insects (-each session will focus on a different insect group.)
