    More than 300 species of native plants are found at Gibson Woods, including a variety of rare and unique species. Join a park naturalist for a walk through the preserve to learn more about our native flora. Comfortable shoes and insect repellent are recommended. For all ages! Program is free but pre-registration is recommended, call 219-844-3188. Every other Tuesday, April 22-September 24 (April 23, May 7,21, June 4,18 July 2,16,30 August 13,27, September 10,24)

  2. Sleepy Hollow Ticket Sale

    August 28, 2019, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Deep River Waterpark

    Ticket sale in person at Deep River Waterpark! $9 per person (15 ticket limit) Tip for newbies: Lines form begins to form as early as noon. Any tickets left unsold will be sold at the Main Office either in person or via phone starting at 9 AM next day. 219-769-7275. One of the Lake County Parks Department’s most popular events, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. This event is an interactive, walking performance that takes visitors of all ages through the story of the headless horseman. No patio/beach umbrellas allowed in ticket line. Personal umbrellas only. Performance dates are September 13th, 14th, 20th, and 21st. First performance begins at 6:30 PM and runs every 20 minutes up to and including a 9:30 PM. The performance of Sleepy Hollow is held at Buckley Homestead in Lowell Indiana. Advance ticket sales are required, no tickets will be available at the performance.

  3. Quilling for Beginners

    Quilling is an art form that involves rolling, shaping and gluing paper strips into decorative designs. The $20 fee per person includes supplies needed to learn how to create your own nature-inspired design on a 4 ¼-5 ½ “ card using this centuries-old process. For ages 15+!     Summer is winding down for another year. Join us as we enjoy an evening hike around the woods to steal a few more summer moments. Pre-registration required; please call 219-844-3188. Homeschool, scout and other groups are welcome to attend, but all families within a group must register individually.
